Allen is home to several springtime traditions created by the Parks and Recreation Department. One event in particular has evolved over the years to become a true hometown favorite - the Eggcellent Family Adventure. View our photo gallery to see images of past events.
Originally developed to be the City of Allen's egg hunt, in 2008 the event was re-branded as the Eggcellent Family Adventure, and Allen Civic Plaza (adjacent to City Hall) was chosen for the festivities.
Easter Trick-or-Treating
The unique event features the Easter version of "trick-or-treating." Tables are hosted by local community organizations and businesses. Children visit each table and collect eggs filled with goodies as well as valuable information and offers from the participating organizations. There are also opportunities for children to get pictures with the Easter Bunny, create crafts, play games, jump in a bounce house and get their faces painted!

Eggcellent Eggdrop
Presented by Chick-fil-A Allen
New at the 2018 Eggcellent Family Adventure was a competition called the Eggcellent Eggdrop presented by Chick-fil-A Allen, where individuals and teams were given materials such as straws, tape and cardboard to build a structure to protect a raw egg from breaking from a 10+ foot drop.
