Eggcellent Family Adventure

Due to the forecast of inclement weather, the Eggcellent Family Adventure at Allen Civic Plaza has been canceled.

There are several other fun opportunities to get pictures with the Easter Bunny in Allen this month:

Thank you to our outstanding Eggcellent Family Adventure partners, Texas Health | Allen, Credit Union of Texas, and Chick-fil-A | Allen for their support and generosity. (Eggcellent Family Adventure baskets will be available at upcoming Allen Parks and Recreation events and recreation facilities.)

Allen is home to several springtime traditions created by the Parks and Recreation Department. One event in particular has evolved over the years to become a true hometown favorite - the Eggcellent Family Adventure. View our photo gallery to see images of past events.

Originally developed to be the City of Allen's egg hunt, in 2008 the event was re-branded as the Eggcellent Family Adventure, and Allen Civic Plaza (adjacent to City Hall) was chosen for the festivities.

The 2019 Eggcellent Family Adventure is from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 13 at Allen Civic Plaza (305 Century Parkway, Allen, TX 75013), which is free to attend and open to all ages!

Easter Trick-or-Treating

The unique event features the Easter version of "trick-or-treating." Tables are hosted by local community organizations and businesses. Children visit each table and collect eggs filled with goodies as well as valuable information and offers from the participating organizations. There are also opportunities for children to get pictures with the Easter Bunny, create crafts, play games, jump in a bounce house and get their faces painted!

Make sure to bring your biggest basket to collect all of the freebies given away throughout this free event.

Eggcellent Eggdrop

Back again for a second year, the 2019 Eggcellent Family Adventure will feature a competition called the Eggcellent Eggdrop, where individuals and teams will be given materials such as straws, tape and cardboard to build a structure to protect a raw egg from breaking from a 10+ foot drop.

Due to limited spaces available for the Eggcellent Eggdrop competition, pre-registration is required, which can be done online! For more information and help with registering, please call 214.509.4707 or email Anna-Marie at
